When you have that official change of address validation or verification letter in hand, you are going to know that the USPS will take care of forwarding your mail. That doesn’t mean that you don’t need to notify businesses and organizations about the change of address though. Furthermore, you have to remember that you are going to need to get a new drivers license with your new address. You have a list of affairs to take care of for sure as you plan your move, and now you are going to work on getting that USPS confirmation letter or email showing that you have successfully changed your address. Have You Successfully Changed Your AddressIt does take a little time for the USPS to put that change of address in effect, so be sure that you do take care of the matter in advance. You have options, too, as you might have noticed when I said that you can get a confirmation email and not a confirmation letter. If you would rather handle the change of address validation online, you can do so. All you need to be aware of is that there is a small one dollar convenience fee that you will have to pay in order to take care of the matter that way. Is it worth it to you to do that? It would be great if you were able to change your address with the DMV online. Then you could take care of both matters using your laptop or tablet. In fact, when I applied for a new social security card, I used my phone at the time. It was quite easy to do, which means you could even submit your change of address with the USPS on your phone. You would be done in minutes, and then you would be getting your confirmation email showing that your mail will be forwarded by the date that you provided. Permanent Change Of AddressAre you going to provide a stop date, or is this a permanent change of address? You are going to want to think about that because you do have the option of a temporary change of address if this is a temporary move. Knowing what dates you want your mail forwarded for a temporary change of address will stop you from having to do this process twice. Let’s say that you were going to make a temporary move, and you submitted a permanent change of address with the USPS. You would have to submit another permanent change of address when you come back. Inputting the start and stop dates and selecting ‘temporary change of address‘ would prevent you from having to do that as mentioned. Now you are aware of everything you need to know regarding getting that official change of address validation that you need. You have two options for handling the situation. One is going to provide you with a written letter, and the other is going to provide you with electronic confirmation. Both are the same in many ways, so it’s just up to how you want to handle things.
